MultiPlus was installed in 1998 at the Norwegian cruise company, and has, over the years, tied together a large variety of IT systems. Color Line's communication requirements are large and complex, encompassing four different countries, with extensive sea to land communication needs.
Keenly felt need
The necessity to have a well-functioning financial system was critical when Color Line chose MultiPlus in 1998. With the increasing amount of electronic transactions both from e-trade and payment cards, the need is no less keenly felt today.Color Line’s starting point was that they needed a financial system that worked. Transactions needed to be aware of each other and data needed to have full integrity even with several IT systems involved.
Complex operation
Seemingly a simple demand, but there is little simple or plain about the operation that MultiPlus ties together for Color Line. Every single financial transaction in the company enters into MultiPlus. The volume is immense: In 2007, the Color Line Group had a turnover of NOK 4.7 billion. All financial data are stored in the MultiPlus computers – having a central data storage is of paramount importance for Color Line.
